In celebration of the 70th anniversary of D-Day, Great British Chefs and Sweet Eve Strawberries hosted a retro street party with us last week.
The Pimms was flowing and the courtyard was decked with bunting and balloons as selected guests mingled over punnets of strawberries in celebration of the start of the great British summer.
Our head chef Malcolm Emmanueil treated guests to some live cookery demonstrations on the art of creating the perfect Mille Feuille – layering together sliced strawberries, fresh cream, puff pastry and topped with dusted icing sugar.
As always our brilliant staff kept guests as happy as pie, bringing round endless trays of canapés and topping up drinks with a smile.
Scampi & chips; new potatoes and crème fraiche; roast beef and yorkshire puddings amongst other treats we’re tucked into.
There were oohs and ahhs when a centrepiece strawberry tower was brought out from the kitchen – layered high with swiss rolls, meringues and fresh strawberries and cream.
All guests received recipe cards to take away divulging tasty strawberry desserts including Sweet Eve Strawberry, Raspberry, Honey & Honeycombe Sundae and Sweet Eve Strawberry Meringue Kisses.
Here’s to a great summer! Check out what happened at the party!
