In 2014, after 12 years navigating the high-pressure world of corporate finance, Jennifer Yong decided it was time for a change. She had spent much of her career attending team-building events, and while some were great, many fell flat. The ones that worked had one thing in common — they brought people together over a shared experience.

For Jennifer, that experience was always going to be food. She had long believed that cooking and eating together broke down barriers faster than any icebreaker ever could. Food sparks conversation, invites collaboration, and creates moments people remember.

Inspired by flavours discovered on her travels — from bustling street markets to tucked-away eateries — Jennifer launched Jenius Social: a space where teams could swap the boardroom for the kitchen and connect in a whole new way.

Twelve years on, Jenius Social has welcomed more than 40,000 guests and hosted over 700 corporate cookery events, working with some of the nation’s biggest brands. Our recipe for success? A blend of culinary creativity, hands-on fun, and a tried-and-tested formula for team building that turns colleagues into collaborators.

When she’s not in the kitchen, Jennifer can be found hunting down local delicacies, eating her way around the world, or indulging in her favourite dish — Singapore’s beloved Hainanese Chicken Rice. She still can’t quite believe her “day job” now revolves around food, turning her lifelong passion into a business.
